Caring for My Chaos

This used to be Izzie's room. It's the smallest bedroom in the house and I have decided to change it into a den/sewing room. I'm going to paint it a very pretty purple color tomorrow, which is good since this room hasn't been painted since I was pregnant with Bubby, 11 years ago! This is just the beginning. I haven't been able to decorate too much since I was waiting to get the paint first. The good thing is that it won't take me long to paint since it's little. Hubby likes having the desk to do his paperwork for work at and I love that I don't have to put my sewing machine up every time I'm done now. AND I got to buy the rotary cutter I wanted today! It's a Singer one that is pink and it goes for 17$, but Joann's has a 60% off coupon going on until July 1 so I got it for 7$! Yay!

I just finished this round afghan for the shop and wanted to share! This turned into one of my favorite patterns. It was so easy and you can make it as big as you want! I edged it in a creamy white. It was a challenge because I was going along and had gotten about 30 rows in when I realized my skipped stitches hadn't lined up right and had to take it apart down to about the 5th row. Painting. This is my son's room, which is technically the master bedroom. It started out as the master when we moved here 11 years ago. Then when I became pregnant with my son, the baby, we moved the 2 girls into the master and we moved into the medium bedroom and the little bedroom was the nursery. Then, the girls couldn't get along so we turned our den into our bedroom and the kids switched many times, but now it's our son's. When he moved into it, it was a pale purple color left over from when we first moved the girls into it. I'm just now getting around to changing it to his choice! Of course, being as I married into a Cowboys family, I am painting the Cowboys colors, dark blue walls and silver gray trim. (I'm a Giants fan. Born in New York, what do you expect?) So I am committing to this "no poo" idea. Here is my before pic. Sorry for the pic. I don't photo well. Here is a pic of the back so you get a better idea of what my hair looks like. And if you have already done this, please leave words of encouragement! I read that the first week is the worst. It's definitely going to take some getting used to not shampooing every time I get in the shower anymore! Hubby isn't sure what to think about it. But, at least during the bad first week, he's on a business trip! So he won't see it! Yay! UPDATE- I failed. I couldn't make it a week. My hair went crazy with the oil. It was bad. Really bad. I apologize for being weak!

Isn't this a pretty bottle? My darling sister in law knows the way to my heart because she bought me Bath and Body Works Sleep lotion and bubble bath for Christmas. The lotion comes in this really pretty blue glass bottle. Well, I had finally used up all the lotion, it had lasted a little over 5 months, but I didn't want to just throw the bottle away. So, I thought I would clean off the label and use it in the kitchen for the hand soap! I read online all about how to clean the labels and remaining residue off and this is the steps that worked for me. 1- Fill the bottle with very hot water. This will melt the glue enough to where you can start peeling the label off. I got lucky with the B&BW labels and they came off in one piece. But, if you have a stubborn one, just keep scraping the label away and if the water gets too cool, refill. 2- Now, you are left with the icky residue. I read all kinds of different treatments for this, nail polish remover, olive oil, etc. This ...

I have decided I am not going to be a plant murderer anymore! I notoriously kill plants. I try to love them and keep them, but somehow I just don't have a green thumb. But, with the help of my bestest friend Lindsey and my dad, who both have green thumbs, I am determined to learn. Lindsey told me you have to name plants and talk to them. I don't know about the talking, but my first plant here is named Norman. He's a Fittonia "Mini Josan". He was only 2$ at Walmart. The plant hanger I made in about an hour. I found the pattern on JPFun . The hanger literally took me an hour. Isn't it cute? So, I will keep you posted on Norman's progress. Hopefully, I will keep him alive!
