Who's Ready??

Image
It's November 1!!! You know what that means, right? It's officially the holiday season! This is my hands down favorite time of the year. I live for Christmas. I have been scouring Goodwills all year for Christmas decorations, I have my Pinterest full of recipe ideas. I am that person. I have no shame in it either. I just hung up my Thanksgiving flag outside and I got all the fixins from the dollar store to do my holiday wreath. I think Hubby is sick of me coming up with present ideas already. Who's with me on this? Do you wait all year for November 1? When do you put your decorations up? We usually wait until the Friday after Thanksgiving but some years, I can't wait that long. And with our new house this year, I'll get to go all out like I wanted to last year but didn't have time. Note to self, never move at Thanksgiving again. I would not recommend it to anyone. I have so many plans this year. I can't wait!!!

Yep, I'm turning into that housewife!

Easy Christmas Wreath!

Image
This is a stock photo of what I made. These kind of wreaths can cost you a lot of money and I make mine every year for a couple bucks. This is the one from a couple years ago that I had a pic of that had been in storage so it's a little squished. I take them apart and do something different every year. This year, with moving, I just haven't had time. I didn't even get to do my grape vine wreath one! These are very easy and you can get most of what you need from the dollar store or use what you have around the house!  Here's what you will need- 1 wire hanger Duct tape 1 pack of garland, whatever color you want (The more garland, the fluffier your wreath will be!) 1 bow Whatever little decorations you want to put around the wreath Pack of wire ornament hooks Now, first thing you're going to do is undo the wire hanger. This can be tricky. I have found that using a pair of my husband's pliers work the best. When you have it taken apart, you then nee...

Sharpie Wants To Help Wrap Presents This Year!

Image
**I received product in exchange for my 100% honest review. All opinions are my own** How much time do we, as mothers, spend finding all the right presents for everyone on our lists? And the lists seem to get longer each year.

I love Dollar Tree!

Image
This is the window at the top of my front door. I found these gel stickers at the Dollar Tree for 1$ a sheet of 9. I can't wait to see it this afternoon when the sun comes through it! I'm really impressed with Dollar Tree's decoration section here lately. They just have been having some really adorable things! I may go back and get more decorations to do the front windows for Halloween!

Cool Way to Decorate a Cake

Image
I have never heard of this technique but I found this via Pinterest on Cake Journal and it's a frozen ButterCream transfer. She has a very easy to follow tutorial on how to do this. Just imagine the different pictures you could do and it would look so professional! The possibilities are endless!

Why Haven't I Thought Of This?

Image
Isn't this just adorable? All it is is a Wal Mart mirror, hot glue, and fake flowers! Over on Ann-Kay Home she has a tutorial that shows you exactly how to do it! I may have to do this for Doodle and Izzie since they both have these kind of mirrors!

Homemade Ornaments

Image
I haven't made these in a long time. I did one year when the girls were little with their handprints but I didn't seal them and they had to be thrown away. I found this recipe on The Imagination Tree and I like this recipe better. The ones I made were salt dough but this one is baking soda, corn starch and flour. They can be baked or air dried. I think these would be really cute painted too. Go check out the tutorial and make your own!

Neat Christmas craft!

Image
I had never heard of these! These are borax snowflakes! This would be such a cute craft for the kids to do and then hang them in a window so they sparkle all day! This idea came from Delia Creates. All you need are pipe cleaners, string, water, a jar and borax. I think Bubby may be making these in the future!

Cute Homemade Christmas Decoration!

Image
I found this on Parentmap.com and I think it would be a really cute idea to do a lot of these and either hang them from the ceiling in one room all around it, or to hang from varying lengths of fishing line in our big front window. And it's so easy! It's just strips of cardstock held together by binder clips! Go check it out!

Have I mentioned my love of Goodwill?

Image
I redid my kitchen back in May, before my daughter's graduation. It used to be blue and green. As you can see, I did it in pink and off white, which I'm totally in love with. But the area above my sink, above, and my stove, below- was bare. I had some metal trays that my mother in law had given me up there before I repainted but I wanted something different and more country. That's where Goodwill came in! I found the middle heart basket in the top picture about 3 weeks ago for .50. It was perfect. So I kept looking every time I went to Goodwill or DAV or any resale store. I found the last piece today and all together spent 2.25! I was just so tickled with how it turned out!
