As you can see from the picture, these were a hit.  I chose the bison and butternut squash flavor.  They loved it! I really like the size.  I think it's the perfect size for a treat. Not too big and not too little.  The aroma is pleasing too. I hate when their treats stink.  These are all natural and grain free, which makes me feel even better about giving it to them. This month's is no exception. This month's choice was Greenies Pumpkin Spice Flavor Chews. As you can see in the picture, the pups love them. These smell heavenly and definitely make a difference in the doggy breath situation. The pups don't know that they are getting their teeth cleaned; they think they're just getting treats. These are just the right size too. Not so big that they get too full, and not too little where they feel cheated. This is our Rottweiler/black lab mix, Kojack. When we first got him, he was so skinny you could see his ribs and was infested with fleas and ticks. He was 1 year old when we got him and has been the best dog we've ever had. He is my favorite child. About 3 years ago, we started having problems with him getting hot spots from what we think is an allergy to fleas. That first year, he got a hot spot that became infected and we almost lost him. Hot spots are serious business. I have been determined that we were not going to get any hotspots since last year he was naked from about his midsection down he lost so much hair. I had read on Pinterest about a recipe for a homemade flea shampoo that fleas just jump off the animal and it's ok to use on cats or dogs. It's 1 cup blue Dawn, 1 cup vinegar or apple cider vinegar and 1 cup water. You pour this mixture over the animal and scrub it in. Kojack is a black lab mix and Bolt is a bassett hound mix. I love them to pieces, but their breath stinks. I mean bad. I know that there are tooth brushes out there for dogs and even meat flavored toothpaste, but really, I'm not going to go through holding them down and forcing them to brush their teeth. I did that with three kids and I'm not about to start again! Thank goodness Chewy.com has Greenies! This is Bolt! I know you've heard me talk of this beast before, but he is part pit bull, part bassett hound. This is as big as he's gonna get. But, the point of this post is to teach about how to get rid of fleas. I dose both our dogs every 3-4 weeks with topical flea medicine, but they still somehow get fleas every once in a while. This time, Hubby took Bolt up to his parents' house where they have tall grass and he came home covered. Now, we have to nip this in the bud because our older dog, Kojack, is allergic to fleas and will get hot spots from them. The first step you need to take is to bathe them in a flea shampoo. This will help to kill a lot of them fast. Also, make sure to wash any bedding they lay on regularly. You can also get spray that you can use on the dogs, but what I like to use is diluted apple cider vinegar. 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar. Fleas hate it. This is our almost 13 year old black lab mix, Kojack. He is one of the best dogs we have ever had. Over the years, I have become very knowledgeable in how to care for hot spots at home. A hotspot is when a dog scratches or licks a spot on his body until the hair is gone and the skin is broken open. When we got him, he was skin and bones and covered in fleas and ticks. You can't really tell now that he was skinny. He was a stray that a friend of my husband's had found. After we got him cleaned up, we found he is allergic to fleas, which causes him to get hotspots every year.  About four years ago, I was late getting his flea medicine on him in the summertime and he got his first hotspot. I had no idea what they were and didn't treat it right away. It became infected and we almost lost him. After that, I did a lot of research on what to do when they first appear.
