Update--Just got home from my Kroger and I was so tickled! The prices are incredible! I always punch in my Kroger number and before the cashier hit total to start the coupons going, my total was over 180$! When he hit total, after a minute or so, the total was just over 130$! I saved almost 50$! And most of that was the Kroger sales. I only used 2$ of manufacturers coupons. This is definitely a sale you gotta hit! Last night, I was going through my online Kroger coupons to prepare for grocery shopping today and there was a free coupon! For 1 Mars Candy Bar! This isn't their Friday freebie, just an extra freebie! This week is also a Kroger Mega Event. It's the Buy 5 save 5$. I got to thinking about coupons today since I'm going grocery shopping and figured that I would do a refresher on different ways you can save money. I'm all about sales and coupons. I don't like to pay full price. I even have my girls and husband couponing. Doodle seriously won't go to a store without a coupon now! I think this is a great skill to teach early on. I was reading this over on My Litter who keeps up with all the coupon policies at most stores. Big changes are coming to Kroger's coupon policy at the end of the month. She said that there isn't anything official out yet, just an internal memo to the managers, but if they are true, this is big! Here are the major points- No Limit on coupons. Customer buys the item, they take the coupon. Stay consistent with the policy, take all legitimate coupons. Don’t look for expiration dates, the store will get credit. Kroger will accept competitor Catalina Manufacturer coupons. Kroger will accept competitor manufacturer coupons. Basically Kroger Corporate is accepting the loss of the expired coupon themselves… The store itself will still get credit. What I'm afraid of is that there will be the people out there who abuse this. Kroger used to have the double coupons and sometimes even triple, but they took that away because people were abusing it. UPDATE: If you do use this, pay attention to the fine print. We were going to use this on Bubby's shoes and even though at the top it says you can use it on shoes, in the fine print it says no athletic shoes and no Nike. Now, I am usually a Food Lion fan, but here lately I am liking Kroger! I went last night because I had read about their digital coupons and they had a great deal on Hot Pockets. Normally, even at Food Lion, Hot Pockets are 2$ each. Well, Kroger has a digital coupon, one you load onto your Kroger card, where if you buy 5 for 10$, you get 3$ off! That's 5 for 7$! And they had the big 28 oz cans of Maxwell House on sale for 5.99 and had a digital coupon for 1.50 off that. That's the big can for 4.50! And my kitty's happy because they had 9 Lives for 3.99 and with the digital coupon was 1.50! I texted my sister in law when I left because then I found that they had my favorite wine, Rex Goliath, on sale for 4.29$. Also they had way more flavors than Food Lion did.
