It's Hot!

Here in VA, it's finally summer. The heat index today will be 100 or more. This made me think of our doggies and any animals that you keep outside. Our dogs are usually outside now that we moved, but days like this when it's too hot for me to be outside, I bring them in. Remember your animals and bring them in where it's comfortable. They can't take the heat either. And make sure they have plenty of fresh water. They get dehydrated too. Also check on any elderly neighbors or relatives. Make sure that they have their AC on and are staying out of the heat. This kind of heat can be very dangerous. Just a friendly reminder from Caring for my Chaos!

OK, this started as another one of those "Pinterest Experiments" to see if it would really work, and it actually did! I had read on Pinterest that you can do a body wrap at home wayyyy cheaper than at spas. All you need is lotion, plastic wrap and whatever body part you want to lose about .5 in on. Seriously. I did it on my stomach, because after 3 children, I have the "pooch". I hate the "pooch". I figured that this wouldn't hurt, so while Hubby was in Washington, I tried it. All you do is put lotion on the body part you are working on. It's preferable to have a lotion with something from the sea in it, like seaweed, kelp, etc, but not absolutely necessary. Put A LOT on. I mean to where it's not soaking in anymore. Then you wrap the body part in plastic wrap. You can either secure it with an ace bandage or do what I did and just tape it. On My Journey: Cataracts

Along with my entire family, I wear glasses.  I have for about 3 years now.  I had noticed about two months ago that my left eye was really bad.  I couldn't see anything out of it, just blurry blobs.  So,  I carried myself to the eye doctors, expecting to get a new prescription.  He dilated my eyes because my left eye failed all the tests.  Imagine my surprise when he tells me that at the age of 42, I have cataracts.  I couldn't believe it! He said this is extremely rare, but does happen.  I ended up leaving there with a referral to an eye surgeon instead of a prescription.  Now I'm waiting to go see the eye surgeon.  I'm a little nervous even though I know it's an easy,  routine surgery.  I will keep all you wonderful readers updated as this progresses!

What you should clean right now!

We all know what this is. And I hope you clean it every time that you put a load of laundry in your dryer. But did you know that lint gathers at the opening on the outside of your house? And inside your dryer? You would be surprised how much is there. And this is a serious fire hazard. Every month, you should be inspecting the opening on the outside of your house and cleaning it. You can get a lint brush for only a few dollars at any store. I got mine at Ollie's for I think 3$. These are what they look like I have the rounder looking one. The long one is better if you have the kind of lint filter that is inside the drum. Mine is like the one pictured on top of the post. Also, about twice a year you should detach the duct from the back of your dryer and clean that out completely. All of this will also help prolong the life of your dryer! It won't have to work as hard to dry everything. So go clean out those filters and ducts!
